Frequently asked questions
How much does statutory health insurance reimburse?
Osteopathy is generally a self-payment service for those who are solely covered by statutory health insurance, and within statutory health insurance, it is considered an optional benefit. Therefore, not every health insurance provider reimburses for osteopathy.
Please inquire in advance (by phone or online) whether your statutory health insurance covers osteopathy and whether a medical recommendation is required. This recommendation should be dated before your first appointment and can be issued by any doctor (it is not a prescription but a recommendation).
All therapists at Osteovision Practice meet the requirements of health insurance providers, and you can download the corresponding certificates under ‘Link Downloads‘ if requested by your health insurance provider.

What should I consider for my first appointment?
- Please arrive 5-10 minutes before your scheduled appointment.
- You can simply take a seat in the waiting room, and if you haven’t already filled out the treatment contract, you can complete it on-site (you can also find the various treatment contracts ‘here’).
- Your therapist will then come to the waiting room to escort you to the treatment area.
- Feel free to bring any existing medical records or reports with you.
- Appointments must be canceled at least 24 hours in advance.
- If you have a recommendation for osteopathy from your doctor, please bring it with you.

How long does a treatment session last?
We typically schedule appointments in one-hour increments. During the initial appointment, we begin with a medical history assessment, and depending on the time required for the assessment, we may also start the first treatment (see FAQ on Double Appointments). In follow-up appointments, we begin with an update on any changes or developments. The last 5-10 minutes of the session are used to discuss the treatment outcome, the next steps, and scheduling.
Therefore, the actual treatment time is approximately 50 minutes, with an additional 5-10 minutes for discussion and administrative tasks.
Unofficially, your treatment time starts 5 minutes before your actual appointment, as we always review the previous treatment history and medical history.
For height training, we also schedule one hour for the initial appointment, and follow-up sessions last approximately 45 minutes (40 minutes of actual treatment time and 5 minutes for discussion).
Do I need an appointment?
When does a double appointment make sense?
Many of our patients travel from afar or have complex medical histories. In such cases, it often makes sense to schedule a double appointment, especially for the first session, in order to allow enough time for treatment.
Otherwise, the first session may consist entirely of the initial consultation, and there may not be enough time left for treatment.
The same applies to follow-up appointments if you have complaints in multiple areas of your body or if you are considering multiple therapies from our offerings (e.g., osteopathy and hypoxia training or osteopathy and hypnotherapy).
You can also book these double appointments with different therapists.
Booking double appointments is also possible through Doctolib, but it may be a bit more complicated. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about booking.
How many sessions do I need?
This question cannot be answered universally. With osteopathic and hypnotherapeutic treatments, you should start noticing initial improvements after approximately 1-4 sessions. It greatly depends on the severity and duration of the symptoms. Making standard statements about this would be unprofessional.
The same applies to altitude training. According to research, 10 sessions are recommended, but significant changes often occur before that.
